Cork Shoulder Bags

Cork leather is a sustainable material that is similar to leather. Hard wearing, easy to clean, water tight and warm and soft to the touch. It is not a full replacement for leather and other materials used in wallets and bags. The material sold in sheets is only 0.7 mm thick and 1.2 mm for the double sided reversible material I used in this project. See  DIY Cork Wallets which includes a template to make the shoulder bags. These are origami styles, made from a single piece of cork leather, folded and held in shape by Chicago rivets and pop buttons.

The smaller shoulder bag is 200x150x50 mm, 136grams, 1.25 litres. Cost about £32 to make. Carries mobile phone, ear phones, wallet, keys. This could also have straps added to carry on a belt. It would be hard to get more minimalist that this.

The larger shoulder bag 250x150x60 mm,2.25 litres, 185 grams and 232 grams lined in velvet (as shown below). Costs about £45 to make. There is room to carry an 8" tablet (Dell Venue 8 Pro), keyboard and mouse (Microsoft Bluetooth 360) as well as mobile phone (Sony XA1), ear phones (Sony XBA-H1) and wallet.

These both are able to stand on the rivets even when loaded with mobile phone and tablet.

To accommodate a camera and lenses the depth would have to increase to 10 cm, both length and height expanded and padding added.
